This year my son's school added a new staff member. She is called a Literacy Coach. I believe her job was created as a way to help children become better readers. I also think her job is paid for from Stimulus Funds. So Obama did something good. This coach, Mrs. H, uses some kind of special test to determine what grade level the students are at. Then she helps the teacher to design a program to help that child. My son is in third grade and I found out he is reading on a first grade level. So the teachers are all using new materials to help him, and in 3 months he has advanced to a second grade level. I was very pleased when I met with the teacher and Mrs. H and saw that this year, my child has hope to succeed in school. I like having a Literacy Coach at my son's school!
